Steve Loughran, and strong REST supporter, has made an interesting blog post suggesting that REST applications use SOAP faults to handle errors.
I'm doing a couple of presentations on REST and SOAP in the upcoming weeks: on Thursday at Emerging Tech for the Enterprise and then ApacheCon Europe.
The lack of a standard way of reporting errors hadn't really been on my list till now - I had assumed that the richness of the HTTP error codes was enough, so this is a good addition to my list of REST and SOAP issues.
