A busy week for releases

Its been an amazing two weeks for releases - at least from WSO2! We released:
  • Mashup Server 1.0 (http://wso2.org/projects/mashup)
  • Mooshup.com - a community portal for writing and hosting mashups
  • Web Services Application Server 2.2, including clustering, JMX and improved Data Services support
  • ESB 1.6 (http://wso2.org/projects/esb)- also featuring JMX management, clustering support and improvements to several areas, plus some useful new mediators
  • WSF/Spring 1.0 beta1 (http://wso2.org/projects/wsf/spring) - a new way of embedding Axis2 into Spring to allow Spring developers the chance to expose Spring applications as Web Services
With my Apache hat on, I helped release Apache Synapse 1.1.1 and move to our new home: http://synapse.apache.org. More about that later.

I'll also blog more about the WSF for Spring beta very soon too.

If you want the lowdown on the Mashup Server release, I'll pass you over to Jonathan Marsh who leads the project, and Ganesh, who has blogged about Mooshup.com.

The one thing I do want to mention is this: I think the Mashup Server embodies a new kind of middleware, and Jonathan takes huge credit for driving this vision inside WSO2. The Mashup Server inherently supports multiple users and the concept of each user having their own space. Of course this isn't new in the website world, but for Enterprise middleware this is part of a new world. The result - mooshup.com - the funky Web2.0 website - is running on the same code as the downloadable server. This is a story that is unfolding and my bet is that this will be a theme that really makes it big in 2008.
