I will be running a half day training session in Atlanta on the Apache Synapse ESB on Tues 13th November 10:00-13:00 as part of ApacheCon.
You don't need to book to the whole ApacheCon conference, you book just the half-day training if you like, or you can attend the whole of ApacheCon.
The training will cover:
* installing Synapse
* Understanding Synapse's model
* Using Synapse to add smarts to your service network
* What's new in Synapse 1.1
* Plenty of real world samples - databases, JMS, File Systems, CSV files
* Extending Synapse using Java and dynamic languages
I'll also be running the same session two weeks later in HK.
Please let me know if you are interested - or just book!

The power of the press (and the blog)
Maybe my long running saga with wrongly addressed emails might be coming to an end! My blog got picked up by a journalist at the Hendon Times, who contacted the Fremantle Trust. The result is that I got a long and thorough email and the contact details for the new IT manager there.
Its nice to see that old fashioned journalism is still working (aided by the odd blog post!).

Dismantle Fremantle
What a great picture!
Seems like I'm unlikely to be popular in Barnet at the moment! An organization called the Fremantle Trust has cut pay, holidays, overtime and sick leave for its workers, and now there is even an online petition to the Prime Minister to stop them.
While I can't comment on the Barnet vs Fremantle argument, I can speak from my own experience that the Fremantle Trust are basically technically incompetent. It's as simple as this: they don't know their own email address.
They own and use "fremantletrust.org". I own and use "fremantle.org". But they think they own "fremantle.org". About 5 years ago, they published a job ad in the papers, with my domain address. After about 100 CVs came to me, I forwarded them on and informed the Fremantle Trust. They apologized and even sent me half a dozen bottles of wine, and I assumed that was that.
But no! They continued to use my domain name for their email. Their IT staff set up computers with reply-tos set to fremantle.org. They gave it out to partners. For five years I've been telling them what their email address is. I've had confidential emails with details of hirings, firings, confidential complaints, patient details and more. I've reported this to the chief executive. I've repeatedly bounced and responded to emails.
How hard can it be! Its fremantleTRUST.org. Doh.

We must be doing something right...
When other companies buy our name - WSO2 - from Google Ads. I recently noticed this sponsored Google link at the side of my email:
Now maybe we've created a new Industry Category ("WSO2 Mashups") but I guess these guys meant to register the words as Google AdWords but maybe have their own name in the title. I guess there's no accounting for taste! I'm pretty pleased that they feel they can share their Google Ad money on us.
So then I typed "WSO2" into Google, and what did I see:
Cool. Iona obviously think we are so important they need to buy our keyword.
(By the way, if you type "Iona" into Google, you'll find we don't sponsor that word.... only Iona does!)

Synapse continues to rock
I hope Balaji doesn't mind me quoting him, but it really makes my day when a user says this about an Open Source project I'm involved in. Thanks Balaji.
